New Version BRCGS Food Safety Standard Issue 9

« BRCGS: TIMELINE AND CHANGES OF THE NEW VERSION BRCGS FOOD SAFETY STANDARD ISSUE 9

So far there is only limited information available about the upcoming Issue 9 of the BRCGS Food Safety Standard. Version 8 of the BRC Standard, published in August 2018, is still the currently valid version. The BRCGS Food Safety Standard Version 9 is expected to be published in August 2022. As soon as information about the changes in the new version becomes available, we will summarize it here. 

The BRCGS  Global Standard for Food Safety, originally published in 1998, has been developed in collaboration with numerous European retailers and trade associations. The standard provides a framework to assess suppliers in terms of food safety and hygiene. Issue 8 of the standard was published on August 1, 2018. The BRCGS Food Safety Standard Version 9 is expected to be published in August 2022.

CHANGES IN ISSUE 9

We expect Issue 9 to be aligned with the GFSI benchmarking criteria. However, there is no information on the changes yet. We will update this page as the revision progresses.

FROM ISSUE 8 TO ISSUE 9: TRANSITION TIMELINE

Currently, the applicable version of the BRCGS Food Safety Standard is Issue 8. Version 9 is expected to be published in August 2022. Audits according to the new version are expected to start in February 2023. After publication, the standard will be available on the BRCGS Website.
